A well-preserved religious emblem book commemorating the miraculous events that took place in 1696, when the icon of the Virgin Mary at Máriápócs in Hungary shed tears for 35 days. The painting was transferred to St Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, where it was installed on 1 December 1697. "Unrecorded emblem book with illustrations of quality and imagination. Written by an unnamed priest of the Passau diocese" (Jantz). It consists of an introduction (36 pp.), three sermons by Abraham à Santa Clara (54 pp.), 35 emblems accompanied by explanatory text (456 pp.), six sermons given in the church Maria am Gestade in Vienna (104 pp.), and an index (14 pp.). The folded plate shows the altar installed in honour of the Virgin in Maria am Gestade, while the frontispiece depicts the miraculous icon.
