A complete facsimile edition of a 14th century "liber depictus", a "painted book", originating from the monastery of the Friars Minor at Ceský Krumlov, representing one of the most valuable manuscripts of the Austrian National Library. It includes a paupers' Bible, numerous legends of the saints and some educational narratives, all in the form of splendid pen-and-ink drawings. They are arranged in two or three rows accompanied only by a few lines of text, and were carried out by three different hands. There are two full-page illustrations showing the Virgin with the child on f. 1r, partly covered by a medallion of Christ with the marks of crucifixion but without the Crown of Thorns, as well as the incarnation of Christ on f. 155v.

Without the commentary volume. The slipcase a little worn. The date "1350" added to the title-page by hand, the rest of the volume in mint condition. From the library of the Viennese collector Werner Habel.
