Third and best edition. A treatise on "artificial pastures" and other means to improve agriculture, originally published in 1756 as a slender volume of a mere 124 pages. In the present edition the original essay is followed by two other treatises, of which the first deals with the culture of clover and the second with the exportation of corn. La Salle de l'Etang (c.1700-1765) was an official of the city of Reims and deputy at Paris, and author of a popular "Manuel d'agriculture". His formula for a balanced partition of the soil between arable land and "artifical pastures" was adopted by Quesnay in his famous article on grains for the Encyclopédie.
