To "Monsieur le Vicomte", apparently Adolphe-Louis-Marie de Ségur Lamoignon (1800-76), who was a member of the Chamber of Peers from 1828 until 1848. Guizot asks the viscount to visit him before 11 o'clock, as Guizot himself is not able to leave the house and he would like to talk to the viscount. In the P.S. Guizot mentions a sinister day and considers the path made since then, to repair and to build up, and that there is still a lot of work ahead: "Je voudrais bien causer quelques minutes avec vous, et je ne puis sortir ce matin. Si vous le pouviez, vous seriez bien aimable de passer chez moi avant 11 heures. Pardon de vous donner cette peine. J'espère que vous serez libre. Croyez, je vous prie, à ma haute considération [...] de chemin nous avons fait pour réparer et remonter, depuis ce sinistre jour! Et nous en avons encore beaucoup à faire." - Guizot served the "citizen king" Louis Philippe, as Minister of Education, 1832-37, ambassador to London, Foreign Minister 1840-47, and finally Prime Minister of France from September 1847 to February 1848.

Verso, signed note from the recipient's hand: "Cette lettre m'a été adressée par Mr. Guizot [...] Vte de Ségur Lamoignon pair de France". With tiny staple hole.
