"This work is 'the first to discuss polychromatic decoration in Greek architecture' (Blackmer Cat. 34), the metopes having been discovered by Angell and William Harris. It is dedicated to William Hamilaton and the subscribers include Bröndsted, Cockerell, Clarke, Dallaway, Gell, Hope, Inwood, Leake, Millingen and Wilkins" (Sotheby's, Blackmer).

The text engraving shows a plan of Selinunt (Sciacca). Title page browned; some brownstaining to last leaf of text and plates. From the collection of Henry Myron Blackmer with his bookplate on the front pastedown.
