I: First edition of this Leipzig dissertation on the proper way to undertake a Grand Tour, with notes on requirements and preparations as well as special hints for theologians, jurists, and philosophers, remarks on priorities to set on such journeys, etc. The legal scholar and historian Theodor Berger (1683-1773) studied at Halle and Leipzig, earned his Master's degree with this thesis in 1712, and taught philosophy and history before accompanying several young noblemen on their tours of Europe. In 1735 he was made professor in Coburg and in the following year became doctor of both laws in Marburg (cf. Jöcher/A.).

II: The first of two appendices to the "Dissertatio de iure peregrinantium" by Christoph Daniel Klesch (praes. Peter Müller). Although VD 17 does not list a separate edition of a single appendix, the appendices were undoubtedly sold as a collection without Klesch's "Dissertatio", and possibly also individually (leaving the quire signatures unchanged, which hence begin with G). Bernegger's treatise on eductational journeys and Grand Tours (with an extensive "corollarium" regarding the treatment of Jews) was first published in Strasbourg in 1619 as a dissertation and was variously reprinted.

Some browning and brownstaining throughout due to paper stock; small edge tears to Berger's title-page. Provenance: from the collection of the Swedish historian of literature, Magnus von Platen (1920-2002), with his handwritten ownership to the front pastedown and bibliographical notes on the endpaper.
